The voting was close, as a trio of state champion cross country runners put the pressure on, but when all the votes were counted, Woods Cross football's Xequille Harry was the winner in last voting for the Preps Magazine athlete of the week, the Edge MVP, sponsored by Edge Homes for the week of Nov. 4. Harry received more than 43 percent of the votes to hold off a strong challenge from three other candidates.

Harry had a huge game, and a big first quarter performance in the Wildcats opening round playoff win over Box Elder, as he threw a TD pass, caught a scoring toss and returned an interception to the house, all in the first 12 minutes. The senior now leads Woods Cross into the state semifinals this week against Timpview after the Wildcats followed that win with a quarterfinal victory over Salem Hills.

In the voting for Edge MVP, Harry's 43 percent topped the 28 percent who voted for American Fork cross country star, and 5A state champion, Connor McMillan. Carbon's 3A state title-winning runner Garrett Marsing was third with nearly 21 percent of the vote, as Sky View runner Conner Mantz and Jordan football's Clay Moss collected the remaining votes.

Harry will receive an Edge MVP T-shirt from Edge Homes and Preps Magazine and be entered into the pool for a school year-end drawing for a possible scholarship from Edge Homes.
